The sewn cross ribs on the Rib cover are not just a styling cue. When you open the throttle and your body slides back, each rib gives you something to push against. On the EX 500 (1993) that keeps your position sorted without hanging off the bars. Underneath is 1.2 mm (0.05 in) gripper fabric, non-slip and waterproof, with a polyester backing that blocks water and double stitching around the perimeter. The look is classic motocross applied to a sport bike, and it works with whichever color combination you pick in the selector.
