Sewn cross ribs give it that shape and, more to the point, give you something to brace against: when you get on the throttle and your body wants to slide back, the ribs stop it. Fabric is 1.2 mm (0.05 in) non-slip waterproof gripper over a polyester base that keeps water off the foam, with double stitching around the whole perimeter for mixed street and dirt use.
