Total Grip replaces it with smooth 1.2 mm (0.05 in) gripper fabric, fully non-slip, no embossing and no rubber panels: the clean stock look, but with real hold when you brake hard in traffic or ride loaded on the highway. The fabric is waterproof and the polyester base blocks water, so the bike can sit out in the rain without the foam soaking through.
