The ribs are not just decoration: they give you something to push against when you accelerate and stop your body from sliding back when you pull away from a light. All of it sits on 1.2 mm (0.05 in) non-slip gripper fabric, with a polyester base that keeps water out and double perimeter stitching so daily use does not open the edges.
