Underneath it is the HF base, 1.2 mm (0.05 in) gripper fabric with high-frequency embossing that holds better than plain material, which matters when you are starting and stopping constantly. The waterproof polyester backing protects the foam when the bike sits in sun or rain, and double perimeter stitching holds the edge.
