The rubber panels on both sides of the seat sit where the boots rub; they protect the fabric and give you a place to squeeze the bike with your legs. The main surface is 1.2 mm (0.05 in) high-frequency embossed gripper fabric, which holds you better than smooth, with a polyester base that keeps water out and double perimeter stitching. The pattern is taken from the original XR 650 L seat, so it fits without wrinkles.
